Meet Our Team
Mr. Mickelson is the Managing Partner of the firm. He has been investing in small to medium sized businesses since the early 1990s. He has been a partner in four previous private funds totaling approximately $800 million. He has managed capital for some of the largest pensions and endowments in the world and has also done deals with high net worth individuals and other private equity firms.
He has been on the operating committee or board of directors of numerous small to medium sized businesses and, as a result, has been active in strategic planning, senior executive compensation, mergers, acquisitions, audit committee, senior debt financings and mezzanine debt financings. He has also been instrumental in achieving shareholder liquidity in most of these companies through sales to other private equity firms, leveraged recapitalizations, sales to strategic buyers and public offerings.
Mr. Mickelson graduated from the Anderson School at UCLA where he received an MBA with a concentration in finance. His undergraduate degrees are from the University of Redlands where he received a double major in Business and Economics.
Mr. Raasch is an Operating Partner of the firm. He currently serves as CEO and Chairman of Creative Brands Group, Inc., a Silicon Valley brand management and licensing company. Creative Brands Group has worked with a wide range of celebrities, artists, designers and corporations including Heidi Klum, LIFE, Thomas Kinkade and Kitson. He also currently serves as CEO of Virtual Artistry, a media company with offices in Santa Monica, that creates, designs, and produces immersive experiences in the exhibition space for the faith and family market. Prior to founding Virtual Artistry, he co-founded Media Arts Group, Inc. with his friend and well-known artist, Thomas Kinkade. This partnership created the art-based brand, “Thomas Kinkade, Painter of Light. ™” He served as Chairman and CEO of Media Arts Group, Inc. from 1990 to 1999. Under his leadership, the company went public on NASDAQ in 1994 and transitioned to the NYSE in 1998. He continued to serve as Chairman until 2001.
Mr. Robinson is an Operating Partner of the firm. He specializes in developing and implementing strategic and operating plans which focus on value creation – managing both the income statement and the balance sheet. He has held many senior management and board positions of companies experiencing rapid growth, rapid decline or in a transitional position due to market or general economic conditions.
He has been an integral participant in more than 50 operational transformation efforts in the manufacturing, retail, hospitality, distribution, telecommunications, food service, day care, ready mix, and computer industries. He has successfully led the transition of more than 30 troubled companies and has served as Interim CEO/COO for numerous companies undergoing transitions with sales ranging from $5 million to $500 million. He has also functioned in an advisory capacity on behalf of executive management, secured lenders, unsecured creditors, and white knight companies in out-of-court workouts, Chapter 11 reorganizations, orderly liquidations and recapitalizations.
Mr. Robinson holds a BA in Business Administration with an emphasis in finance and marketing from Michigan State University, and a B.S. in psychology. He is a LEAN certified specialist, Certified Six Sigma Black Belt, Certified Project Manager and Certified Toyota Production System (TPS) Practitioner. He is an active member of the Young Presidents’ Organization, Association for Corporate Growth, and The Entrepreneur Institute. He is also on a not for profit board for the organization Operation Progress, a charity that provides scholarships to “good kids in bad places.”
CPA, Audit & Risk Manager
Ms. Leontieva is the Audit & Risk Manager of the firm. Prior to joining Next Point Capital, she was a Controller of two small businesses and a Senior Auditor at two middle market accounting firms. Not only is Ms. Leontieva an expert in GAAP accounting matters, but also she has experience with all types of business insurance, human resource issues, cash flow projections, tax preparation, receivable collection and inventory management.
She graduated from California State University Northridge with a BA in Accounting as well as BS in Environmental Engineering from Moscow University.
